The Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House

Cameron Ranch Glamping

The Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House at Cameron Ranch Glamping is one of the most visually unique stays we’ve experienced so far. Tucked into the trees just outside of Austin in Bastrop, Texas, the property blends modern glamping with a peaceful outdoor atmosphere that feels secluded without being too far from the city.

And of course, the most important thing for us is always how dog friendly a property actually is. While dogs are definitely welcome here, we ultimately left feeling like this was more of a truly pet friendly stay than a property intentionally designed with dogs in mind.

The Boogie Breakdown

Every stay in the Holly Checks In series is scored using our Boogie Breakdown rating system. Each category receives a score from 1–5 Boogies based on both the human and dog experience.

Because at the end of the day, there’s a huge difference between a property allowing dogs and a property actually being designed with them in mind.

The Room Experience — 4.5 Boogies

Visually, the Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House is absolutely stunning. Tucked into the trees with floor-to-ceiling mirrored windows, the entire stay feels peaceful, private, and honestly just really cool. The aesthetic side of this place absolutely delivered.

That said, there were a few things that kept this from being a perfect score for us.

The dishes and kitchenware were not the cleanest when we arrived, and the bed itself was relatively uncomfortable. Our biggest complaint, though, was definitely the bathroom setup. Because of how open the shower is, water gets absolutely everywhere. The floor, toilet area, walls, pretty much the entire bathroom stayed soaked long after showering. The privacy film was also peeling, making the space feel a little less polished in person, and the shower products were mounted high enough that younger kids would likely struggle to reach them comfortably.

The cabin itself could also feel a little tight with two large dogs, although with one dog I honestly don’t think space would be much of an issue at all.

That said, we really didn’t spend much time inside the cabin apart from sleeping and getting ready because the outdoor space is genuinely fantastic. There’s a massive deck with multiple seating areas, a hammock, fire pit, and a Nordic plunge pool and wood-fired hot tub setup that quickly became the main event for us.

Most of our trip was spent outside relaxing with the dogs and enjoying the atmosphere of the property itself, which honestly made a lot of the smaller issues feel much less important overall.

Service & Hospitality — 5 Boogies

Service and hospitality ended up being one of the strongest parts of this stay for us. Communication leading up to our trip was extremely thorough, and everything from check-in instructions to property information was explained clearly and made the entire experience feel really smooth and low stress.

We honestly didn’t need much assistance during our stay because everything was laid out so well ahead of time, which I personally really appreciate, especially when traveling with dogs.

One thing worth noting is that the camp store and main campground amenities are separate from the mirror house area itself, so the experience feels a little more private and disconnected from the busier parts of the property.

While the stay itself wasn’t necessarily designed around dogs, the overall hospitality still felt very welcoming toward both us and the pets, and overall this was an incredibly easy and enjoyable stay from a service standpoint.

Designed for Dogs — 2 Boogies

To be clear, the Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House is absolutely pet friendly, and we had no issues bringing the dogs along during our stay. But when it comes to being intentionally designed with dogs in mind, there really wasn’t much beyond simply allowing pets on the property.

There were no dedicated dog amenities like water stations, poop bag stations, fenced off-leash areas, or designated dog spaces that made the experience feel specifically tailored toward traveling with pets.

The property itself is beautiful and there are plenty of outdoor areas to explore, but overall it felt much more like a human-centered glamping experience that happens to allow dogs rather than a stay designed specifically with pet owners in mind.

And honestly, that’s completely fine. A big part of the Holly Checks In series is recognizing the difference between “pet friendly” and truly “designed for dogs.”

For us, this stay definitely leaned more toward the first category.

Gone Walkies — 4 Boogies

The outdoor atmosphere at Cameron Ranch Glamping is honestly one of the best parts of the entire stay. The property is peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful scenery, the lake and walking trails which made walking the dogs feel really relaxing overall.

There were plenty of outdoor areas to explore, and overall we never felt limited when it came to getting the dogs outside. The walking trails themselves were genuinely fantastic and added a lot to the overall experience.

That said, one thing dog owners should absolutely be aware of is that all of the campground roads are black asphalt, and you do have to cross those roads to access the trails and outdoor spaces. We visited in February, so it wasn’t a major issue for us personally, but during the Texas summer those roads will absolutely get too hot for those toe beans.

If you’re visiting during warmer months, I would definitely recommend bringing dog shoes & planning accordingly.

While the trails were beautiful, they are certainly pet-friendly and designed for people rather than being intentionally designed for dogs. There were no poop bag stations, dog water stations, or dog-specific features along the walking areas, so you definitely need to come prepared with your own supplies before heading out.

Taste of the Stay — Off the Menu

Since the Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House is more of a private glamping experience than a traditional hotel or resort, there were no food-related amenities included during our stay. No restaurant, room service, complimentary breakfast, happy hour, or on-site dining experience to review.

Rather than counting that against the property unfairly, any category that is not relevant to a specific stay is simply excluded from the final Boogie Breakdown score altogether.

Before You Go

A few things we’d definitely recommend bringing along if you’re planning to stay here with dogs:

Playpen
Perfect for dogs that want a little more room than a kennel while still having a safe place to relax.

Long Lead or Retractable Leash
There’s so much outdoor space here, and this gives your dogs a little extra freedom while still staying secure.

Paw Protection
The black asphalt roads will absolutely heat up during Texas summers, especially since you have to cross them to access the trails.

Portable Water Bowl
There were no dog water stations around the walking areas, so definitely come prepared.

Extra Poop Bags
We didn’t see many waste stations throughout the property, so having extras on hand is a good idea.

Good Recall
Not technically required… but definitely appreciated here.

Final Score & Thoughts

Final Score: 3.9 Boogies

Overall, we genuinely really enjoyed our stay at the Bloom ÖÖD Mirror House and would absolutely come back again. While there are definitely a few small improvements we’d love to see over time, the atmosphere, outdoor space, and overall experience made this one of the most memorable stays we’ve reviewed so far.

If you’re looking for a peaceful glamping getaway near Austin that welcomes dogs and encourages you to spend most of your time outdoors, this is absolutely worth considering. Just come prepared with a few extra dog essentials and keep in mind that while the property is very pet friendly, it’s not necessarily designed specifically with dogs in mind.

For us, this ended up being the perfect example of a stay that welcomes dogs without fully revolving around them, and honestly, that’s completely okay.

Not every property has to be designed specifically for pets to still be a really beautiful and enjoyable experience.
